
Odisha Government to Launch Greenfield Airport

To enhance aviation infrastructure in the state, the Odisha government has opted to set up a Greenfield airport in the port town of Paradip, accelerate the progress of the Shree Jagannath International Airport in Puri, and build heliports across 14 districts.
These choices were made at a meeting for Aviation and Network Construction Management led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday.
Alongside talks on accelerating the planned Shree Jagannath International Airport (SJIA) in Puri and enhancing Rourkela Airport, the meeting decided to move forward with the creation of a Greenfield airport in Paradip as per reports.
The discussion also centered on the progress of important regional airports throughout the state, such as those in Jeypore, Dand Bose, Rangeilunda, Gautama, Satibhata, Raisuan, Tushara, Jamadarpali, Malkangiri, Amarda Road, and Utkela, with the goal of improving regional connectivity.
The state administration also talked about building heliports in 15 districts and enhancing the Biju Patnaik Aviation Centre (BPAC) at the airstrip located at Birashol in Dhenkanal. The works department, serving as the central agency, has been assigned the duty of accelerating these development projects.
Majhi instructed officials to enhance the facilities of public airports, boost flight connectivity, and improve the efficiency of aviation units.
In the meeting, the construction of heliports in 15 districts of the state and the enhancement of Biju Patnaik Aviation Centre (BPAC) at the Birashola airstrip in Dhenkanal were also addressed. The Works Department was assigned the duty of fast-tracking these development projects as the central agency.
