PM Modi reiterates India's dedication to wildlife conservation, emphasizing the International Big Cat Alliance and the reintroduction of cheetahs on World Wildlife Day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised the Centre's initiatives for wildlife conservation, reiterating the dedication to "conservation, sustainable practices and habitat protection" during World Wildlife Day.

Acknowledging the NDA government's commitment to wildlife protection, PM Modi emphasized the International Big Cat Alliance and the relocation of cheetahs.

In a sequence of X posts, the Prime Minister stated, "World Wildlife Day is a celebration of the amazing diversity of fauna that enhances our planet and supports our ecosystems. It is a day to recognize all those striving for the preservation of wildlife. We restate our dedication to conservation, sustainable methods, and safeguarding habitats to ensure that our wildlife can keep thriving."

The NDA Government has initiated various measures for the protection of wildlife. This encompasses the establishment of the International Big Cat Alliance, a remarkable platform to exchange best practices with other nations. Additional initiatives involve efforts to safeguard the Great Indian Bustard, Gharial, Sloth Bear, and the relocation of cheetahs.

Additionally, he pointed out that India houses more than 70 percent of the global tiger population and the largest number of one-horned rhinos. The Asiatic lion is only located in India.

"We in India take pride in being the residence of some of the planet's most remarkable wildlife. More than 70 percent of the global tiger population resides here. Our population of one-horned rhinos is the largest, and we have the highest number of Asiatic elephants," says PM.

World Wildlife Day is celebrated each year on March 3, as proclaimed by the United Nations.

A press release states that the International Big Cat Alliance has been established as a coalition involving 96 countries that are home to big cats, non-range nations, conservation partners, scientific organizations, and business entities.
