Qualcomm, BMW Team Up to Shape Future of AI-Powered Mobility

Qualcomm announced that it has entered into a long-term agreement with German luxury automaker BMW to supply advanced semiconductor solutions for the company’s next-generation vehicles.

The deal will see Qualcomm provide chips for BMW’s future digital cockpit systems and advanced driver-assistance technologies well into the next decade, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to innovation in the automotive space.

The agreement comes at a time when competition in the automated driving and intelligent vehicle market is intensifying. Major players such as Nvidia and Mobileye Global are also aggressively positioning themselves to deliver high-performance chips and integrated software platforms to global automakers.

Against this backdrop, Qualcomm’s collaboration with BMW signals its growing influence and strategic push into the automotive electronics sector.

As part of the partnership, BMW will leverage Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions. These include cockpit processors, automated driving system-on-chips, and AI accelerators designed to power immersive in-car experiences and enable advanced safety features.

Together, these technologies will form the hardware foundation for BMW’s future AI-driven vehicle platforms, supporting enhanced connectivity, real-time data processing, and intelligent automation.

Qualcomm, widely known for its leadership in smartphone chipsets, has been steadily expanding its footprint in the automotive industry. Its offerings now span infotainment systems, telematics, and advanced driver-assistance systems, positioning the company as a key technology partner for next-generation mobility solutions.

Commenting on the collaboration, Nakul Duggal, Qualcomm’s group general manager for automotive, industrial and embedded IoT, and robotics, emphasized the transformative role of artificial intelligence.
