Replus Engitech, supported by HEG Advanced Materials, and Indus Towers announced on Wednesday that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to investigate collaboration on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions for telecom infrastructure in India.

According to the MoU, Replus plans to provide a dedicated BESS production capacity of 1.5 GWh over two years to meet the changing energy needs of telecom infrastructure, HEG Advanced Materials stated in an exchange filing.

Indus Towers is among the top telecom infrastructure firms in India. The company operates throughout all 22 telecom circles nationwide, with clients such as Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, and Vodafone Idea Limited.

Replus aims to broaden its telecom energy storage offerings, incorporating larger-capacity battery systems, while investigating technologies like sodium-ion batteries to enhance reliability, energy efficiency, and lifecycle performance in telecom applications.

Replus Engitech is a comprehensive energy storage and renewable energy firm specializing in cutting-edge battery technologies, battery energy storage systems (BESS), telecommunications energy solutions, and electric mobility. Riju Jhunjhunwala, chairman, managing director, and CEO of HEG Advanced Materials, stated that the effort would aid in creating a local energy storage ecosystem for essential infrastructure, simultaneously enhancing manufacturing scale and technological expertise.
