German IT firm SAP to open a new Centre of Excellence with 15,000 seating capacity at Bengaluru in August this year to cater to the growing business needs globally as well as in India.

"India is one of our largest development centers, and we are opening a new facility later this year that has even more capacity. Given its size, from a product engineering perspective, it is a very self-sufficient and decoupled environment,” says Muhammed Alam, member of the executive Board of SAP and head of the company's Product & Engineering.

The new Centre of Excellence is expected to become operational in the year's second half, possibly around July-August, stated Manish Prasad, president and managing director of SAP Indian Subcontinent, to PTI.

The 41-acre greenfield campus of SAP Labs India located in Devanhalli, Bengaluru will accommodate an additional 15,000 seats. This will serve as the second SAP campus in Bengaluru.

Established in 1998, SAP Labs India now employs 14,000 staff members in five cities: Bengaluru, Gurugram, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Pune.

SAP Labs India is the most significant Research and Development (R&D) site for SAP beyond its headquarters in Walldorf, Germany.

It is developing essential Artificial Intelligence applications and influencers throughout the complete solution range -- from S/4 HANA to HXM and the newest sustainability suite of offerings.

Business is expanding in every sector, such as automobile, healthcare, and retail. Indian firms are embracing AI at an extremely rapid rate

Pointing out that India's growth narrative aligns with SAP's, Prasad mentioned that India has become a robust and dynamic market for the firm across 25 business sectors.

"Business is expanding in every sector, such as automobile, healthcare, and retail. Indian firms are embracing AI at an extremely rapid rate. We are also targeting the mid-sized markets," Prasad stated.
