Tata Chemicals to Invest in New Manufacturing Unit in Tamil Nadu
Tata Chemicals declared an investment of Rs 515 crore to establish a new greenfield production unit in Tamil Nadu, which the company’s Board previously approved on February 2, 2026. The new facility will be utilized for the manufacture of Iodised Vacuum Salt Dried (IVSD).
The investment in the new facility situated in Valinokkam, within the Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu, is part of the company’s strategy to expand capacity and enhance supply chain strength. The new facility's construction is anticipated to finish in 36 months, with Tata Chemicals financing it through internal revenue or external funding.
The facility will possess an installed capacity of 210 kilo tonnes annually (KTPA).
At present, the Tata Group firm has an IVSD production capacity of 1.6 million tonnes annually at its Mithapur facility in Gujarat.
The newly established greenfield plant in South India aims to serve as a second significant manufacturing location for IVSD, helping the company diversify its production base and enhance regional supply capabilities, as reported by Tata Chemicals Ltd.
