Tata Technologies has purchased the German firm ESTEC for Rs.750 crore to create a foothold in Europe's automotive center and enhance its software-defined vehicle competencies.

This acquisition incorporates ESTEC's workforce of 300 professionals who focus on advanced driver assistance systems and comfort electronics. The transaction is anticipated to boost Tata Tech's profitability and earnings per share immediately and represents a strategic expansion without workforce reductions.

On September 12, 2025, in Pune, Tata Technologies Ltd. (TTL) revealed its purchase of ES-Tec Group, a German automotive engineering company that specializes in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and connected driving technologies, for Rs.750 crore. This transaction represents a calculated effort to secure a significant foothold in Europe's automotive technology center while strengthening Tata Tech's software-defined vehicle (SDV) expertise.

The €75 million acquisition will provide Tata Tech with complete control of ES-Tec, with payments distributed across two years and tied to performance benchmarks. The transaction is projected to enhance Tata Tech's profitability and earnings per share immediately, with no workforce reduction anticipated.

ES-Tec's team of 300 professionals contributes specialized knowledge in ADAS and comfort electronics, which complements Tata Tech's emphasis on software-centric technologies. Through incorporating ES-Tec's competencies, Tata Tech seeks to transform its position from implementation partner to collaborative innovator in valuable, software-focused automotive technologies.

The purchase also creates commercial advantages. ES-Tec's established connections with German automobile manufacturers, paired with Tata Tech's digital engineering and model-based systems knowledge, form a compelling combination for accelerated development processes, cost-effective solutions, and expanded client networks spanning multiple continents.
