Around 80 percent of TCS's future recruits will possess skills in digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI), a senior company executive stated.

As the portion of AI-driven work in total revenue increased to 10 percent in the recently finished September quarter, the country's largest IT services firm stated that a rise in AI revenue share will aid in boosting its profit margins, which are still under its target levels.

Out of the 4,500 we added in Q2, I can confidently say that 25 to 30 percent are entirely AI, and approximately 80 percent is modern, the company’s COO Arathi Subramanian says.

When inquired if the same percentage will persist moving forward, she answered positively and mentioned that the needed talent is accessible in the market.

When inquired if freshers have an edge over mid-career professionals in this landscape, where their familiarity with AI and lower costs could benefit them, she stated that it favors individuals who are ready to “unlearn and learn.”

"As the volume of these AI transactions rises, you will notice that there will be additional margin (profit)," he stated.

"If a mid-level engineer is eager to learn, it provides a significant benefit as they grasp the technology landscape and the domain," said the company's chief executive and managing director K Krithivasan, noting that a junior engineer might not possess the same understanding.

Krithivasan stated that the company will keep investing in “niche talent” in the future, noting that mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships will also be key investment areas.

Krithivasan stated that the increasing trend in AI revenues will additionally contribute positively to profitability.
