There Should Be No Compromise on Ethical Use of AI: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed leading CEOs and specialists in Artificial Intelligence that ethical standards in AI usage must not be compromised.

The Prime Minister engaged with CEOs during a meeting at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence, ahead of the IndiaAI Impact Summit in February. The session focused on promoting strategic partnerships, highlighting AI advancements, and speeding up India’s AI mission objectives.

PM Modi emphasized the significance of data protection and the democratization of technology. He stated that there must be no concession on the ethical application of AI and highlighted the importance of establishing an environment that is transparent, unbiased, and safe. The AI ecosystem in India ought to embody the nation's character and values, he stated.

The roundtable at a high level included CEOs from AI-related firms such as Wipro, TCS, HCL Tech, Zoho Corporation, LTI Mindtree, Jio Platforms Ltd, AdaniConnex, Nxtra Data, and Netweb Technologies, along with specialists from IIIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, and IIT Bombay.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for Electronics and Information Technology and Union Minister of State Jitin Prasada for Electronics and Information Technology also took part in the discussion.

During the discussion, the CEOs conveyed significant backing for the objective of achieving self-sufficiency in AI technology. They recognized the government's efforts and resources to establish India as a leader in AI on the international level.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India offers a distinctive combination of scale, diversity, and democracy, which earns the world's trust in India's digital infrastructure

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of adopting new technology across all areas and leveraging it to aid national development. He also encouraged the adoption of local technology in important sectors.

In discussing the forthcoming AI Impact Summit, he noted that every person and organization should utilize the summit to uncover fresh opportunities and advance along the growth trajectory. He also mentioned that via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India has showcased its technological capabilities, which can also be applied in the realm of AI.
