Unilever to Establish GCC in Hyderabad

FMCG giant Unilever is considering establishing a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, according to the Telangana government.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, heading the state government's delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, met with Willem Uijen, Chief Supply Chain and Operations Officer of the global consumer goods company Unilever.

The Chief Minister emphasized Hyderabad's swift evolution into a worldwide center for GCCs. Uijen stated that the firm would welcome the opportunity to consider establishing a GCC in Hyderabad, "an official release mentioned.

State IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu stated that Hyderabad hosts GCCs for various FMCG firms such as McDonald's, Heineken, and Costco.

The government states that the UAE will collaborate with Telangana in the creation of the proposed Bharat Future City on the periphery of Hyderabad.

Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, met with the Telangana delegation to explore possible cooperation in the state's significant infrastructure projects, particularly the Bharat Future City.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented the state government's 'Telangana Rising 2047' vision and the plan to develop the state into a USD three trillion economy by 2047, according to reports.

He mentioned that international firms such as Marubeni and Semcorp are already involved in the project.

During a discussion with Google's APAC President Sanjay Gupta, the chief minister detailed Telangana's framework for regional economic development, which includes the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), Peri Urban Region Economy (PURE), and Rural Agriculture Region Economy (RARE), and outlined efforts to make central Hyderabad free of pollution
