Vizag to Emerge as Top Digital Hub, Create 52,000 Jobs: Report
Visakhapatnam is set to emerge as one of India’s leading digital infrastructure hubs, with its expanding data centre ecosystem expected to generate nearly 52,000 jobs and significantly boost residential real estate demand, according to a government statement citing a private research report.
The report estimates that proposed data centre projects in the city will create around 51,840 jobs. This includes approximately 3,240 direct roles within data centre operations and nearly 48,600 indirect jobs across allied sectors such as construction, electrical works, logistics, warehousing, transport, hospitality, retail, maintenance, and other support services.
The impact of these developments is expected to extend far beyond the data centre campuses themselves. They are likely to catalyse the growth of a broader ecosystem, attracting investments in key infrastructure areas such as power supply, fibre connectivity, utilities, logistics networks, and commercial spaces. This expansion is anticipated to accelerate economic activity and strengthen the region’s long-term growth prospects.
