In conversations with Vipul Nagpal, Director, Orient Cables (India)

As an industry leader with close to two-decades of experience, how is Orient setting and resetting benchmarks in networking cable manufacturing?
In order to ensure the best inputs in our

manufacturing process and in turn set the quality standards at the highest level, we import our machinery and raw materials from the world’s leading providers. In addition, we also have a dedicated Quality Control and R&D center called ‘The Connect Lab’. This couples with strict internal systems and monitoring infrastructure that ensure standardization and seamless supply of world class products.

What are the unique factors and ethos that have helped Orient create and maintain such an intact reputation over such a long period of time?
Despite the fact that the rates of raw material fluctuate very frequently in our industry and we suffer inverted duty drawbacks in our line, which means we often pay import duties on raw material at higher rates than finished products, we never compromise on the product quality. We absorb all these volatilities and consistently offer our customers superior quality and lowest prices every single time, while our competitors import the same finished products at zero duty from china. Above all, we also have a dedicated customer service that is available 24x7x365 days.

Going forward, what are the opportunities that you foresee in the industry? What’s the future roadmap?
We are eagerly awaiting for the union government’s response to the plea from our industry pertaining to inverted duty structure. On the other hand, we are aligning ourselves with and working relentlessly under government initiatives like BharatNet and Ghar Tak Fibre to do our bit in enabling fiberization in the country and digitalization of our economy. Going forward, we will also keep on expanding our manufacturing capacity in order to satisfy the market demands, and in turn fulfil India's need for connectivity.
