Andhra Govt Allots Land for Adani-Google AI Data Centre
The government of Andhra Pradesh has designated 480 acres of land in the Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts for Adani Infra (India) Pvt Ltd, a recognized partner of Raiden Infotech India, a subsidiary of Google, to establish 1 GW AI Data Centers within the state.
The Google corporation previously notified the state government that companies such as Adani Infra (India) Pvt Ltd, AdaniConneX India Pvt Ltd, Adani Power India Pvt Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Nxtra Data Ltd, and Nxtra Vizag Limited (a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel) were designated as 'notified partners'.

Raiden has made a formal request for the allocation of all three land parcels identified by Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (APIIC) to be assigned to Adani Infra (India) as the primary notified partner.
This is contingent upon the completion of a survey and the transfer of possession. Raiden Infotech India Pvt Ltd is in the process of establishing Data Centers in a strategic manner, with a total financial commitment exceeding 87,500 crore in Andhra Pradesh. In return for their investments, the state government will provide incentives totaling Rs 22,000 crore to the company over an extended period.

The GO emphasized that this project will adhere to the rigorous standards that underpin the operation of renowned Google services such as Search, YouTube, and Workspace.
The capacity of a data center is generally quantified based on the amount of power it utilizes. The projected 1 GW (1000 MW electricity consumption when fully operational) data center in Visakhapatnam is forecasted to consume approximately half of Mumbai's annual consumption.

Recently, Chief Minister Naidu commented on the increased investment by Google from an initial announcement of $10 billion to $15 billion.
The Visakhapatnam campus will commence operations with a power capacity of 1 gigawatt, establishing itself as one of the largest artificial intelligence data center ventures in Asia. Tech giants are making global investments, with Google spending $85 billion this year solely on increasing its data center capacity.
India is now being recognized as a significant location for these investments. The partnership between Adani and Google reflects a strengthened belief in India's role as a foundational component of the global AI economy.
