The Andhra Pradesh government, in collaboration with IBM, will launch the Amaravati Quantum & AI Innovation Center (AQAIC) on Thursday as a key initiative.

The initiation of AQAIC will establish the basis for "India's largest structured quantum problem-solving team."

"AQAIC, a major project of Amaravati Quantum Valley, Government of Andhra Pradesh, in partnership with IBM, is set to launch on June 18, representing a crucial step in the state's mission to create a premier quantum innovation ecosystem," it stated late on Wednesday.

AQAIC was designed as a platform to connect industry challenges with academic skills and worldwide technological knowledge.

The initiative focuses on speeding up the creation of functional quantum computing applications and algorithms that can tackle actual challenges in industries and public services.

Its operational framework unites three main parties: industry, academia, and technology specialists.

Within AQAIC, industry collaborators will provide significant problem statements that necessitate sophisticated computational approaches, while faculty and students will focus on creating quantum algorithms and applications to address these issues. IBM will offer technical support, entry to its quantum ecosystem, such as Qiskit, certification options, and expert mentorship to enhance research, education, and innovation.

"This initiative is supported by a statewide network of 380 Quantum Innovation Cells set up in engineering colleges throughout Andhra Pradesh, uniting over 3,000 professors and students in one of the largest coordinated quantum talent programs in the country," it stated.

Via AQAIC, this network will operate as a cohesive innovation catalyst, directing real-world issues into quantum-enhanced solutions and simultaneously fostering a strong flow of skilled talent, intellectual assets, and practical research.

The center aims to facilitate the advancement of quantum applications in areas like manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, financial services, energy, agriculture, and public services, allowing organizations to investigate and leverage the transformative capabilities of quantum computing.
