Earlier, In the US, three cryptocurrency investors have filed a lawsuit against Apple, claiming they lost over $1.8 million in total after downloading what they thought was a genuine Bitcoin wallet from the App Store.
The complaint states that users downloaded an app called Sparrow Wallet, moved their Bitcoin into it, and subsequently found out that the software was not the legitimate product. The authentic Sparrow Wallet service is unavailable on Apple's iOS platform. The plaintiffs assert that the occurrence led to considerable financial damages. Court documents indicate that one investor suffered losses of nearly $875,000, another around $840,000, and a third alleges losses of roughly $120,000.
Central to the legal dispute is Apple's claim that its closely regulated App Store offers a more secure environment than rival mobile platforms. The lawsuit contends that users depended on those guarantees when choosing to install the application, trusting it had successfully gone through Apple's review process. The plaintiffs are requesting reimbursement for their losses, extra damages, and a trial by jury.
