Apple is developing specialized chips that will power future devices including its first smart glasses, artificial intelligence servers and new MacBooks, according to reports.

The report indicated that the iPhone manufacturer has advanced in creating the chip intended for smart glasses, according to reports.

This suggests that Apple is reinforcing its efforts to rival the trendy Ray-Ban eyewear provided by Meta Platforms.

The report states that additional processors being developed will function as the core of upcoming Macs and AI servers capable of supporting the Apple Intelligence platform.

To compete in the profitable AI sector, Apple has worked to incorporate on-device AI capabilities into its newest iPhones with Apple Intelligence — a collection that aids in summarizing notifications, rephrasing emails, and providing users with access to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, among various other functionalities.

The company has already progressed in the creation of in-house silicon and, in February, unveiled its initial custom-built modem chip that links iPhones to wireless data networks.

The report indicated that the processor for its glasses utilizes chips found in the Apple Watch, which consume less energy than those in devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Apple is developing various new Mac chips, including processors expected to be called the M6 and M7

The chip, expected to begin mass production by the end of next year or in 2027, has been tailored for energy efficiency and to manage the various cameras intended for the glasses.

Taiwan’s TSMC will produce the chip, and if all goes well, the glasses should be available on the market in about two years.

According to the report, Apple is developing various new Mac chips, including processors expected to be called the M6 and M7.
