Applied Materials to Invest Rs.3, 600 Crore in Karnataka Over 10 Years
US-based semiconductor manufacturing equipment supplier Applied Materials is set to invest Rs. 3,600 crore in Karnataka over the next 10 years, state Minister for Large and Medium Industries MB Patil said, according to reports.
The proposed project will be established in the Bengaluru Signature Business Park area and is expected to generate around 1,000 jobs, Patil said.
According to an official statement issued after the state government received the signed memorandum of understanding (MoU), Applied Materials will direct the investment towards research and development (R&D), manufacturing of critical equipment, and the development of software technologies supporting semiconductor chip production.
The project is expected to strengthen Karnataka’s materials engineering ecosystem and contribute to the state’s growing semiconductor and electronics manufacturing capabilities. Patil said the state government would extend the necessary support to Applied Materials throughout the implementation of the project.
The project could also create opportunities for skilled employment and strengthen linkages between global semiconductor companies and Karnataka’s technology ecosystem

Applied Materials is a major supplier of equipment and technologies used in semiconductor manufacturing. Its operations span technologies that support the production of advanced chips and other electronic components.

The planned investment comes as Karnataka continues to attract investments across the semiconductor and electronics sectors. Bengaluru, in particular, has emerged as an important hub for technology, engineering, R&D, and semiconductor-related activities.
