Aptiv Increases Production, Plans $ 45 Million Investment in Manufacturing Plant Near Chennai
Aptiv, a mobility-focused technology startup, announced that it is increasing production at its manufacturing plant near Chennai and investing over $45 million in engineering and facilities to supply software-defined cockpit solutions to automakers.
Additionally, the company plans to double the number of employees at the plant.
After thirty years of investment, the Nasdaq-listed firm is demonstrating its commitment to growth on the Indian subcontinent with the development of its Chennai facility.
Vinod Sahay, the President and Chief Purchasing Officer of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and Matthew Cole, the Senior Vice-President of Aptiv and the President of Advanced Safety and User Experience, participated in an event at the company's facility in Oragadam, roughly 45 km west of Chennai.

As experts in advanced safety and intelligent mission-critical systems, we continue to anticipate our customers’ need and deliver modern, flexible solutions to reduce complexity, increase performance and continue to enhance their vehicle platforms over time,” Cole said.
Aptiv PLC plans to increase production at its intelligent manufacturing unit and invest over USD 45 million in infrastructure and engineering.
Additionally, the company plans to double the number of employees at the plant.
According to a press release from the company, Aptiv will be tripling the number of workers at the manufacturing complex outside of the city in order to support this project.
Following the development, the facility will manufacture state-of-the-art cockpit control systems and be able to expand to incorporate sophisticated safety and user experience elements for both local and foreign businesses, such as radars, cameras, and electronic control units.
The plant, spanning around 220,000 square feet, will manufacture state-of-the-art cockpit control systems and eventually integrate advanced safety and user experience elements like radars, cameras, and next-generation electronic control units for both Indian and international markets.
Aptiv is an Indian company that employs over 13,000 people. It has three technological centers and has seven strategically placed manufacturing sites.
