
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces Rs. 250 crore the University Development

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the students to embody a new Assam and seize the chances that this new Assam presents, ranging from semiconductors to green energy and IT to ecotourism. He declared Rs. 250 crore for the comprehensive growth of the university.
While delivering the 32nd convocation speech at Gauhati University today, the Chief Minister remarked that in the past ten years, Assam has been on a journey of advancement where students are progressively serving as catalysts to gain the benefits of the state's efforts in the area of modern technology.
The convocation was chaired by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who serves as the Chancellor of the University.
The Chief Minister urged the students to avoid emotional rhetoric and instead let their conscience and reason guide them as they navigate the future in the realm of 21st-century technology. He mentioned that the students ought to embody a new Assam which, in the coming twenty years, will surpass Maharashtra and Karnataka in development.
The Chief Minister remarked that in conjunction with the nation’s advancement, Assam is also evolving into a region of tranquility and abundance. He stressed that through optimistic thinking and united effort, Assam is progressing towards being one of the most powerful states in the nation.

In addition to awarding honorary doctorate degrees to Dr. Amal Chandra Kataki, the former director of B. Borooah Cancer Institute; Tapan Saikia, the honorary director of Oncoscience, Jaslok Hospital and Research Institute in Mumbai; and Chowna Mein, the deputy chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, the university also granted bachelor’s and master’s degrees to 3,593 students. A total of 148 students were awarded PhDs.
