AutoX Permitted To Run Driverless Testing in California

Backed by Alibaba, autonomous vehicle startup AutoX Technologies recently became the only third company to receive permission for conducting driverless testing on the city’s roads.

Before AutoX Technologies, Waymo and Nuro were permitted for testing.

In a recent report published by TechCrunch on Saturday, the California Department of Motor Vehicles that is regulating the autonomous vehicle’s testing in the state gave AutoX permission for testing only one vehicle.

The testing got conducting permission in a limited area in San Jose and AutoX’s test runs cannot exceed the speed limit of 45 mph as per the agency report.

AutoX’s testing started with safety drivers in 2017.

AutoX was founded in 2016 with the mission to empower the world with Artificial Intelligence drivers for providing a universal access of transportation of people and goods.

AutoX declared that its platform is capable of handling “The densest and most dynamic traffic situations” in the urban cities of the world

On January, AutoX agreed with Fiat Chrysler to launch a fleet of robotaxis in China and other Asian countries.

Apart from Alibaba Entrepreneurs Funds, AutoX’s list of investors includes Shanghai Auto, Dongfeng Motor, MediaTek MTK and financial institutions.
