Cognizant appoints Becky Schmitt as the new Chief People Officer

Becky Schmitt will be the new Chief People Officer of Cognizant from February 11, 2020. With the appointment of the new Chief People officer, Cognizant also announced the retirement of the current Chief People Officer James Lennox.

Brian Humphries, CEO of Cognizant in a message to employees said, “I’m writing today to announce an important leadership transition. Jim Lennox, our Chief People Officer (CPO), EVP, and member of the Executive Committee, let me know four months ago that he planned to retire from Cognizant at the end of this year, capping off an extraordinary 16 years with our company. Over recent months, Jim has helped lead the search for his successor, which we have just completed.”

The CEO added in his message, “To succeed Jim, I am pleased to announce that we have hired Becky Schmitt as our new EVP and Chief People Officer. Becky joins the Executive Committee, reporting to me, and will be based in New York City. She brings 24 years of experience in developing talent and designing and delivering modern, market-leading HR strategies globally. Her experience includes more than 20 years with Accenture.”

Becky Schmitt is the present Senior Vice President and Chief People Lead of Sam’s Club US Business. She is responsible for the achievement of around 100,000 connections through innovative job design, investment in digital judgement and guidance expansion at all levels. She has an experience of twenty four years in increasing capacity by finding clarifications to bring out potential and its impact in the result of business. She started serving at Walmart in 2016 as Vice President of HR for technology and further she was as Senior Vice President and Chief People Lead of US eCommerce and Corporate Functions before her role as CPO at Sam’s Club. She served as North America HR Service Delivery Lead in Accenture before joining Walmart.
