Delhi AIIMS Thwarts Cyber Attack

In a recent incident, the cybersecurity systems in place at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS-Delhi) reported that a malware attack was discovered at 1450 hours.

The services of the e-hospital was affected for some time, after thwarting the attack.

A few days back, Delhi AIIMS was a victim of cyber attack after which the online sevrices of the hospital was affected. As a result of the attack, the hospital’s patients had to face a few problems.

“A malware attack was detected at 2:50 pm by the cyber-security systems in AIIMS, New Delhi. The attempt was successfully thwarted, and the threat was neutralised by the deployed cyber-security systems..,” tweeted the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, minister of state for electronics and information and technology, took to Twitter to clarify that there had been no cyber incident or breach as rumors of a potential cyber attack started to circulate.

With the help of the installed cyber security technologies, the attempt was successfully neutralized and the threat was eliminated.

He tweeted, “https://E-Hospital.aiims.edu is an internal application not available for internet users. Someone may have tried accessing this portal and alert generated due to security layer used by AIIMS”.

He further went on to tweet that, “The same person may have taken a screenshot of error msg and circulated it. There is no cyber incident or breach. Error msgs have also been rectified now."

With the help of the installed cyber security technologies, the attempt was successfully neutralized and the threat was eliminated. It claimed that the eHospital services are completely secure and are operating regularly.

The AIIMS suffered the largest cyberattack in November, which for several months had an impact on the institute's medical services.

To preserve cyber hygiene, Delhi has mandated that the nation's top medical institute produce standard operating procedures (SOP) for its officials, physicians, and other staff. No pen drive, USB, or external storage media are permitted on the AIIMS network, according to the SOP.
