The Indian Institute of Technology Madras Global Research Foundation has declared the opening of its inaugural centre in the US, broadening India's influence in deep-tech innovation within international ecosystems.

The declaration of the center in Menlo Park, California, which opened on April 24, occurred at the SelectUSA Investment Summit at National Harbor in Maryland near here on Tuesday.

"The Menlo Park center, established through our collaboration with CA Startups, serves as a key strategic base for IITM Global's activities in the US," states Thirumalai Madhavnarayan, CEO of the IIT Madras Global Research Foundation.

"Through a targeted investment strategy, we seek to establish a platform that propels deep-tech startups from research to worldwide markets, while simultaneously drawing global innovation to India," he states.

The facility will be created with a total intended expenditure of $7.5 million, which encompasses a greenfield investment of $4.5 million from IITM Global, states Narayan.

Positioned strategically close to Silicon Valley, the IITM Centre is designed to serve as a springboard for Indian deep-tech startups to tap into global funding, markets, mentorship, and collaborations.

The Menlo Park center will concentrate on promoting deep-tech research and commercialization, while also acting as a center for startup incubation and access to global markets.
