India is Serious about AI: Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon
A worldwide Artificial Intelligence conference taking place in New Delhi indicates to the globe that India is committed to AI and will create chances to foster intriguing partnerships, an influential Indian-American business figure has remarked.
Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon, a renowned philanthropist and Grammy-winning musician, characterized the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his administration to emphasize AI as “remarkably impressive.”
“I commend the entire idea that we aim to harness AI for the advantage of every segment of society, which has been an expressed objective of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and all related initiatives,” Tandon says.
New Delhi will hold the India AI Impact Summit 2026 from February 16 to 20. The Summit, revealed by Prime Minister Modi during the France AI Action Summit, will mark the inaugural global AI summit held in the Global South, emphasizing the principles of ‘People, Planet, and Progress’.

Tandon emphasized that the AI Summit gathers government representatives, industry professionals, and prominent academics from around the globe, stating, “this is a chance to engage not only in the formal discussions, but also in the informal exchanges that will foster numerous exciting collaborations and innovations.”
"It also conveys to the globe that India is committed to AI. Considering the demographic advantage we possess as a nation, it's a remarkable chance for India to capitalize on that and offer benefits to the world. I believe that India's education will extend beyond its borders. Everyone has the ability to learn from it," she stated.
Chandrika described the setting up of the specialized school of Artificial Intelligence at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad as a “significant milestone for India”

The School will be created with a generous donation of 100 crore rupees from Tandon, a graduate of IIMA's Class of 1975, along with her husband.
