The National Cyber Security Coordinator's office in partnership with Data Security Council of India (DSCI) on Monday launched TechSagar – an online portal of India’s technological capability, which lists every technology-based business and research entities starting from the IT Industry, startups, Academia to even Individual Researchers. The portal was launched by Rajesh Pant, National Cyber Security Coordinator of India.

The repository was built with the aim to facilitate new opportunities for businesses and academia to collaborate, connect and innovate, in future. The portal can be accessed at: www.techsagar.in

TechSagar provides insights about capabilities of more than 4000 entities from industry, academia and research across 25 technology areas like Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, blockchain, cloud and virtualisation, robotics and Automation and more. It enables targeted and customised search,

granular navigation and drilldown methods using more than 3000 niche capabilities.

The online portal also allows one to sort startups by filtering the technology they work on, their headquarters. Vinayak Godse, Vice President, DSCI explained that interested investors can get a considerable amount of information about a technology startup including the investments it received, the investment timeline and its top investors.

The platform will be frequently updated with new entities and information. The repository also endeavours to provide direction for a strategic cyber roadmap of the country in R&D, industry development, and strengthening the preparedness of National Security.

Pant said, “In order to combat the growing threat from cybercrime, there is an urgent need to collaborate and develop Cyber Technology capabilities in India. With the launch of TechSagar, we have sown the seed for startups to prosper in cyber tech.”

Rama Vedashree, CEO, DSCI, said, “Cyber technology capabilities have become central to our National strategic outlook and there was an urgent need for developing TechSagar. Startups, enterprises, academia, researchers, and R&D institutes in the country need to synergise their efforts and work in tandem to make India a technology leader.”

When asked about the reason behind the significant rise in awareness of emerging technologies in the country, Godse told CI, “There are multiple reasons behind this. Some startups have definitely helped in raising the awareness bringing all kinds of solutions through these technologies. Secondly, even big organisations are promoting these technologies by finding services through them. Thirdly, the government has also been pushing the idea of using these technologies. Fourth, India’s thriving technological ecosystem has itself been promoting the use of these technologies.”

He further said that the Indian technology ecosystem is at a very good stage and TechSagar was built to help the Indian marketplace adapt to the emerging technologies.
