Instagram's Global Outage Affects Users, Issue Resolved

Instagram from Meta Platform Inc., was back up for the majority of users, the firm announced on Sunday, following the resolution of a technical issue that had affected thousands of users.

The number of users impacted by the outage was not made public by the company.

The outage monitoring service Downdetector.com reported over 100,000 instances in the US, 24,000 in Canada, and more than 56,000 in the UK.

At the height of the outage, more than 180,000 users reported having trouble using Instagram.

Over 1.8 lakh individuals reported the problem at its peak, which was around 4:09 am today, according to Downdetector.

Additionally, the majority of those having issues were using the Instagram app. Nine percent of users accessed Instagram through browsers, and four percent of them had login problems.

By combining status updates from several sources, including users, Downdetector keeps track of outages.

According to user reports, Instagram has been experiencing issues since 7:56 PM EDT, according to a tweet from Downdetector.

In the meantime, Meta reported that the problem had been fixed as soon as feasible.

A similar micro-blogging text platform is reportedly being developed by Meta, the company that owns Instagram, to compete with Elon Musk's Twitter by the end of June.
