Intel Unveils Next-Gen PC Chip at CES
Intel unveiled Panther Lake, its latest AI chip for laptops, during the CES trade show in Las Vegas, aiming to instill confidence in investors regarding its first product created with the new 18A manufacturing process.
Jim Johnson, senior vice president and general manager of Intel's PC division, provided technical insights into the company's initial range of Panther Lake processors called Intel Core Ultra Series 3. The chips incorporate an innovative transistor design and a method for providing power to the chip, thanks to the company's 18A manufacturing technique.
During the event, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan stated that the company fulfilled its commitment to deliver its initial products utilizing the 18A manufacturing process in 2025, mentioning the Panther Lake chips.
Intel's previous-generation Lunar Lake processors were primarily produced by TSMC. Intel faces significant stakes as it launches its first high-volume product utilizing 18A technology, aiming to regain market share lost to Advanced Micro Devices.
