JP Nadda to Launch SAHI and BODH Initiatives at India AI Impact Summit

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, is set to unveil two significant national initiatives: the Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare for India (SAHI) and the Benchmarking Open Data Platform for Health AI (BODH) at the India AI Impact Summit taking place at Bharat Mandapam, according to reports.

The press release states that SAHI is a national framework designed to facilitate the safe, ethical, evidence-driven, and inclusive implementation of Artificial Intelligence throughout India's healthcare sector.

It seeks to offer strategic guidance for governance, data management, validation, implementation, and oversight of AI solutions, while assisting States and institutions in the responsible integration of AI solutions that align with public health priorities.

BODH, created by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in partnership with the National Health Authority, is a privacy-conscious benchmarking platform that allows thorough assessment of AI models through varied, real-world health data without disclosing the underlying datasets.

Functioning as a digital public asset within the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, it aims to enhance trust, transparency, and quality assurance in the implementation of Health AI.

The Summit marks the inaugural global AI event held in the Global South, attracting the involvement of more than 20 Heads of State, 60 Ministers, and 500 international AI leaders

SAHI and BODH together represent an important milestone in India's progress towards creating a strong, accountable, and internationally competitive health AI ecosystem, as per reports.

The Summit marks the inaugural global AI event held in the Global South, attracting the involvement of more than 20 Heads of State, 60 Ministers, and 500 international AI leaders. Policymakers, technology firms, academic institutions, and industry representatives are participating in the event, which seeks to convert AI dialogues into developmental results as part of the IndiaAI Mission and the Digital India initiative.

The inaugural address of the Summit is set to be delivered by the Prime Minister on February 19. Following the Expo's inauguration, he engaged with exhibitors, comprising startups and research organizations, to highlight AI applications in various sectors. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada accompanied him.
