
Kerala Government Explores Advanced Technologies

Kerala Electricity Minister K Krishnankutty states that the state government is investigating advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), to minimize deadly accidents resulting from broken live wires.
He notified the gathering that the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has been performing thorough line inspections to detect and address possible dangers.
The minister's comments were made as a reply to the opposition UDF's worries regarding a number of electrocution fatalities in the state.

He mentioned that unique inspections are taking place at educational institutions and medical facilities, and KSEB is working together to remove trees that threaten power lines during intense rain or wind.
Krishnsnkutty enumerated several measures the KSEB is undertaking to improve safety and mentioned that such risks can be significantly minimized through advanced technology once smart meters are fully deployed in the state.

He mentioned that a new software is currently being created to offer an early alert regarding such threats.
A group of specialists from IIT Palakkad, the Electrical Inspectorate, and KSEB officials is undertaking research to investigate the potential of utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to minimize electrocution and associated incidents in the state, he additionally mentioned.

In Kerala, the months of May, June, July, and August experienced the highest number of electrocutions, as this was the period when trees were uprooted due to strong winds and heavy rains, he mentioned, noting that the line-land ratio in the state is quite elevated.
