KKR to Acquire Minority Stake in BookMyShow

Investment firm KKR has entered into a definitive agreement with BookMyShow to obtain a minority share in the company, which it will utilize to facilitate its upcoming growth phase as it expands its live entertainment sector and enhances its full-stack services across India, according to reports.

BookMyShow was established in 2007 and is managed by Bigtree Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., a company that was founded in 1999. It stands as one of India's top entertainment hubs, with worldwide operations, and markets itself as a comprehensive source for entertainment requirements.

It exists in more than 700 cities and towns nationwide and collaborates with partners throughout the sector.

KKR’s investment demonstrates its belief in India’s entertainment industry and in BookMyShow’s potential to fuel its next growth phase, supported by increasing discretionary spending, a large young consumer demographic, and a rising demand for premier live experiences.

"With extensive consumer access, technological and entertainment resources, the company is set to sustain its growth in a rapidly evolving market," as per reports.

Avendus Capital was the sole financial advisor for BookMyShow, whereas Trilegal functioned as the legal advisor.

He also mentioned that they are eager to merge their extensive local insights with its global investment expertise and network to assist BookMyShow in its upcoming transformation phase and enhance the world-class experiences it provides to audiences throughout India.

BookMyShow expands KKR’s worldwide collection of media and entertainment investments, which features ByteDance, Chord Music Partners, Epic Games, PlayOnSports, OverDrive, Superstruct, and Simon & Schuster.
