Maruti Suzuki Unveils Rs.925 Crore Green Energy Investment Plan
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the largest automaker in the country, announced on Friday that it aims to invest Rs 925 crore by FY 2030-31 in green energy projects, which include two biogas initiatives.
Maruti Suzuki India announced that it will establish a biogas plant with a capacity of 10 Tonnes Per Day (TPD) at its Kharkhoda location, expected to be operational by FY 2026-27.
The company has increased the capacity of the biogas plant at its Manesar facility from 0.2 TPD to 0.7 TPD as the second initiative, it stated.
"The statement indicated that Maruti Suzuki plans to invest Rs 150 crore in these two initiatives, highlighting its commitment to incorporate renewable energy strategies into its operations."
The firm's biogas projects are consistent with the government's wider 'Waste-to-Wealth' objectives, it stated.

The company stated that it has implemented various measures in its business operations, including increasing biogas and solar power capacities, to lessen reliance on fossil fuels.
"Maruti Suzuki intends to allocate Rs 925 crore for green energy projects by FY 2030-31," it mentioned.

"In this regard, we are establishing a new 10 Tonnes Per Day biogas plant at the Kharkhoda facility and also enhancing the current biogas plant at the Manesar facility," he noted.
In a period when the globe is facing a more uncertain energy environment, such efforts gain added importance, Takeuchi observed.

In relation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for less reliance on fossil fuels, Takeuchi stated, "The launch of our biogas project occurs at an ideal moment. It allows us to make a small yet significant contribution to the existing national focus alongside various other active initiatives."
