Micron, Anthropic Partner to Build AI Memory Infrastructure
Micron Technology has entered into a comprehensive strategic partnership with AI firm Anthropic to enhance the memory and storage infrastructure for future artificial intelligence systems.
The collaboration includes cooperative development of AI infrastructure designs, a long-term supply contract, enterprise implementation of Anthropic’s Claude models at Micron, and Micron’s involvement in Anthropic’s newest funding round.
With the scaling of AI models, memory bandwidth, storage performance, and power efficiency have emerged as significant constraints. According to the agreement, Micron and Anthropic will collaborate to evaluate the performance of memory and storage subsystems in AI training and inference tasks.
The partnership will emphasize enhancing the interaction among memory, storage, and computing resources across the AI infrastructure stack. Micron stated that its range of high-bandwidth memory (HBM), DRAM, and SSD offerings will be essential in enhancing performance, energy efficiency, and overall system economics.

Anthropic sees the partnership as a way to support the rapid growth of its Claude family of AI models.
Tom Brown, co-founder and chief compute officer at Anthropic says, “Our compute strategy depends on getting every layer of the stack right, and memory and storage are central to how efficiently we can train and serve Claude. Partnering with Micron means we collaborate closely on optimizing these systems for our workloads and secure the supply we need. As demand for Claude grows, this is how we scale our compute for the long term.”
