Microsoft Launches Tracker to Manage Autonomous AI in the Workplace
According to Microsoft, people are not the sole managers in a work environment. Artificial intelligence requires a manager as well.
The software company unveiled Microsoft Agent 365, a tool aimed at helping its clients monitor what it anticipates will be 1.3 billion agents streamlining office tasks by 2028. Agents are AI-driven applications that carry out tasks for humans.
Microsoft and various other firms are promoting agent software. Although certain customers have effectively implemented these systems for code generation, others have faced challenges during implementation, raising worries about a potential market bubble.
Microsoft states that, much like IT personnel can monitor who is on a business's network and regulate which resources they can use, its newest software seeks to apply similar oversight to managing AI agents.
The software allows IT staff to isolate rogue agents while providing authorized ones -- whether based on Microsoft or other platforms like Salesforce -- with various productivity tools and focusing on protecting them from cyber threats, according to Microsoft.
During an interview, Judson Althoff, the head of Microsoft's commercial division, mentioned that the product emerged from demands by business leaders to manage AI agents in the workplace and evaluate their return on investment.
