Namma Yatri Launches its Zero-Commission Services in Chennai

Community-based horse-riding app Namma Yatri has launched its zero-commission services in Chennai in partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

Transport and Road Safety Commissioner A Shanmuga Sundaram launched the app in Tamil Nadu.

With nearly 10,000 drivers already on board, Namma Yatri plans to add 1, 00,000 drivers in Chennai in the next 6 months. It is also planning to expand to other cities in the state.

The app is customized for Chennai, including the availability of a driver app in Tamil and an improved user experience with bookings to prominent locations such as Valluvar Kottam, Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Birla Planetarium, Lighthouse, Tidel Park, Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital.

Namma Yatri started its services in Delhi through ONDC earlier this month. More than 5,000 drivers in the national capital have accepted the platform.

As of now, the app serves more than 2 million drivers and 40 million customers, enabling more than 2.5 million trips. According to reports, the app has enabled drivers to earn more than Rs 360 crore without any commission.

Its technology is open (open source), it has published its data in the open and has joined the Open Network for Digital Commerce initiative

Namma Yatri was first launched in Kochi in 2020 and its family of apps is now present in cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
