New Functionality Features for WhatsApp's Disappearing Messages

WhatsApp enables users with new features on disappearing messages. Facebook owned WhatsApp announces that they are providing new option for users to turn on disappearing messages automatically for all new one-on-one chats. WhatsApp launched disappearing message feature last November offering users seven days duration.
WhatsApp is now adding new duration of 24 hours and 90 days for the disappearing messages. The existing duration of seven days remains the same.

In individual chat, by enabling new feature, the messages will disappear in opted time duration. While chatting in WhatsApp group, users can turn on the new disappearing feature while starting a new chat. The messages will disappear within the opted duration.

For users who switch to default feature on disappearing messages, there will be a message displayed on their chat which says the user has opted for the new feature. In case if the user wants long lasting messages for particular chat, they can remove the default message feature of the chat. The company clarifies that the new disappearing message features enabled in the group will not affect the chat history.

WhatsApp also says that the new disappearing message feature is optional for users. In individual chat, users can turn on the disappearing message feature, while starting a new chat, the messages disappears according to the time opted.

For users who switch to default feature on disappearing messages, there will be a message displayed on their chat which says the user has opted for the new feature.

In WhatsApp groups, participants of the group can turn on or off the disappearing message feature according to their need. Despite of this in groups, the group admin can change setting as, only admins can turn on or off the disappearing messages.
