NITI Aayog to Launch Online Dispute Resolution Handbook

NITI Aayog together with Agami and Omidyar Network in India along with the support of ICICI Bank, Ashoka Innovators for the Public, Trilegal, Dalberg, Dvara, NIPFP is ready to launch its very first Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) handbook in India tomorrow.

The opening address will be delivered by Hon’ble Justice DY Chandrachud, Supreme Court of India, who will then proceed to launch the handbook. Key persons namely Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, Poornima Sampath, TATA TATA Sons Vice President and Sumit Gupta, Head Collections, Udaan will be attending the launch.

The handbook intends for business leaders to follow ODR in India, where it stresses the need for such a mechanism, the models of ODR and a workable direction for companies.

The ODR is devised to resolve non-court disputes particularly to small and medium-size proceedings, using alternative dispute resolution technology (ADR) methods, such as consultation, mediation and arbitration.

Although courts are digitized through the efforts of the judiciary, it is urgent for containment and resolution to be more effective, scalable, and collaborative. ODR will assist in effective and affordable conflict resolution.

The ODR is devised to resolve non-court disputes particularly to small and medium-size proceedings, using alternative dispute resolution technology (ADR) methods, such as consultation, mediation and arbitration.

Recently, it announced a collaboration to strengthen the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in India by, amongst other things, creating a public systems innovation database to improve public services

Recently NITI Aayog's ATAL Innovation Mission (AIM) had announced partnerships with Freshworks Inc, a customer experience software company that provides strong support to innovators and entrepreneurs in India, to further empower AIM Startup Innovators. Following the new agreement, Freshworks set forth to grant credit to AIM and its beneficiaries for its product portfolio.

Much earlier it announced a high-level panel to investigate Hyperloops' feasibility in the India week following the completion of the first human Hyperloop drill, where the Virgin Hyperloop test run was conducted on a 500-meter track in Las Vegas in the USA with a pod, as the hyperloop vehicles are known.
