OpenAI in Partnership with IndiaAI Mission Launches OpenAI Academy India

OpenAI, in partnership with IndiaAI Mission, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Indialaunches OpenAI Academy India, the first international expansion of OpenAI’s education platform.

The initiative seeks to expand access to AI education and resources, leveraging India’s rapidly growing developer ecosystem, digital infrastructure, and community of startups and innovators. In addition, OpenAI and IndiaAI have reached an agreement through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that details their partnership objectives.

The OpenAI Academy India will aid the IndiaAI Mission's FutureSkills initiative by broadening AI skills training access for a variety of learners, such as students, developers, educators, government employees, nonprofit heads, and small business entrepreneurs.

It provides a blend of online and face-to-face education, customized for India’s requirements and accessible in English and Hindi, with plans for more regional languages.

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says, “I congratulate OpenAI on the launch of OpenAI Academy in India. This is a significant step towards advancing our shared goal of democratising access to knowledge and technology. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is committed to ensuring that the benefits of cutting-edge innovation reach every citizen.”

“We believe the latest AI frameworks and tools must be made widely accessible so that our startups, developers, and researchers can build faster, better, and at scale. The launch of OpenAI Academy will strengthen India’s AI Mission by enabling greater community learning, fostering innovation, and accelerating the development of locally relevant solutions and 34,000 GPUs are now available to India's researchers and startups and that this number is to increase in the future,” adds Ashwini.
