OpenAI Partners with Walmart

OpenAI is collaborating with Walmart to enable customers to buy items directly through ChatGPT, advancing the AI firm's effort to transform its chatbot into a digital retailer while aiming to increase revenue.
In a Tuesday announcement, Walmart stated that the new service will allow customers to easily chat and purchase. This implies that the retailer's items would be accessible via instant checkout in ChatGPT, enabling users to purchase anything from food ingredients or home supplies to other products they may be talking about with the chatbot.
"For numerous years, the shopping experiences in eCommerce have included a search bar and an extensive list of item results," stated Walmart CEO Doug McMillon in an official announcement. That is set to change.
Sam Altman, cofounder and CEO of OpenAI, stated that the collaboration would simplify everyday buying.
The companies did not clarify when ChatGPT users would be able to begin buying Walmart products on the platform. Walmart's announcement simply stated that the offering would be accessible soon.
However, the collaboration signifies OpenAI's newest move into e-commerce. The business has recently introduced comparable products for Shopify and Etsy vendors.

Collaborating with Walmart - the largest retailer in the country - represents an even greater advancement for OpenAI in this field. Competing with Amazon and Google for transaction fees from online shopping might provide a new revenue stream for the company.
OpenAI has not turned a profit and has depended on investors to cover the expenses of developing and operating its advanced AI systems.
