OpenAI is set to unveil an AI-driven recruitment platform that will directly compete with LinkedIn, broadening its goals far beyond its main ChatGPT offering.

The OpenAI Jobs Platform, the new product, is set to launch around mid-2026. The firm claims it will employ artificial intelligence to connect businesses with employees, marking a daring step into the $150 billion worldwide recruitment sector.

Fidji Simo, the CEO of applications at OpenAI mentioned that the platform would “assist in discovering ideal matches between company requirements and worker capabilities,” and assured a specific pathway for small businesses and local authorities to tap into AI expertise.

The newly launched platform places OpenAI in direct rivalry with LinkedIn, the professional network co-founded by Reid Hoffman, an early investor in OpenAI, which is currently owned by Microsoft. This results in a fragile relationship: Microsoft is the biggest financial supporter of OpenAI, having poured billions into the firm.

LinkedIn has swiftly incorporated its own AI functionalities. In the last year, the platform has launched features to assist companies in filtering applicants and to guide job hunters on their applications. Analysts believe OpenAI’s entrance might compel LinkedIn to hasten its product development plans or reconsider its integration of Microsoft’s AI technologies.

The recruitment platform isn't the sole application for consumers that OpenAI is working on. During a dinner with journalists earlier this year, CEO Sam Altman mentioned that Simo would manage a range of products extending beyond ChatGPT, such as the jobs platform, a possible browser, and even a social networking app.
