PhonePe Unveils AI-Powered Voice and Text Payments Feature
The digital payments platform PhonePe has introduced an AI-driven natural language search feature on its app, allowing users to perform transactions and access services using voice or text inputs.
The functionality has been created utilizing tools from Microsoft’s Foundry platform and aims to substitute traditional menu-driven navigation with intent-driven routing. Users can input or voice commands like paying a contact a certain amount, recharging FASTag, or checking gold prices, allowing the application to guide them to the appropriate transaction page or information area without the need to switch between multiple tabs.
The company states that the system understands user intent—be it for making a payment, finalizing a purchase, or requesting help—and directs users appropriately, according to reports.
The function works on a mixed model that merges on-device and cloud-based processing. PhonePe claimed that personal and transactional information stays within its own ecosystem, with privacy and security measures integrated into the system.
