PM Modi to Inaugurate Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday to launch the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Dehradun.

As stated by the Prime Minister's Office, the Prime Minister will arrive in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, around 11:15 am to assess the Wildlife Corridor on the elevated part of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor. Subsequently, he will conduct Darshan and Pooja at Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple close to Dehradun.

PM Modi will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public event in Dehradun around 12:30 pm and will address the attendees on this occasion.

The 213 km long six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been constructed at an expense exceeding Rs 12,000 crore. The corridor passes through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, cutting the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from more than six hours currently to approximately two and a half hours.

The corridor features eight animal crossings, two elephant underpasses, each measuring 200 meters, and a tunnel that is 370 meters long located close to the Daat Kali temple

The project's implementation encompasses the building of 10 interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), four significant bridges, and 12 roadside facilities to facilitate uninterrupted high-speed connectivity. According to a press release from the PMO, the corridor features an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) designed to enhance safety and improve travel efficiency for commuters.

Considering the region's ecological sensitivity, abundant biodiversity, and wildlife, the corridor has been developed with various features intended to greatly minimize human-animal conflict. The initiative includes various specialized wildlife conservation elements to guarantee the unrestricted movement of wild animals.
