PM Modi Unveils Development Projects in Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation stone for, and launched various development initiatives worth over Rs 830 crore at Singur in the Hooghly district of West Bengal.

While speaking to the audience at the event, PM Modi noted that he was in Malda yesterday and today he was honored to be with the people in Hooghly. He emphasized that the progress of Eastern India is crucial for a developed India, and with this objective, the Union Government is consistently engaged.

He remarked that the initiatives from the past and present reinforce this determination. The Prime Minister observed that throughout this time, he was able to inaugurate projects and lay the foundation stone for developments worth hundreds of crores in West Bengal.

PM Modi emphasized that the nation's inaugural Vande Bharat Sleeper Train was inaugurated from West Bengal yesterday. He mentioned that Bengal has also acquired almost six new Amrit Bharat Express trains.

He noted that three additional Amrit Bharat Express trains have been introduced today. He highlighted that one of these trains will enhance the connectivity between his parliamentary constituency Varanasi and Bengal. He also mentioned that Amrit Bharat Express trains have been introduced for Delhi and Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister emphasized that the last 24 hours have been exceptional for West Bengal’s railway connectivity.

PM Modi noted that Bengal possesses significant potential for waterways and the Union Government is focusing on this aspect too. He mentioned that support is being offered to establish the essential infrastructure for development focused on ports.

He mentioned that recently, projects associated with ports and river waterways were also launched and foundation stones were placed. He stressed that these are crucial for the progress of West Bengal and India. He stated that these are the foundations upon which West Bengal can grow into a significant center for manufacturing, trade, and logistics. The Prime Minister praised all for these initiatives.

“The dedication of infrastructure projects worth ₹830 crore marks a major step in scaling up waterways and rail-based transportation in West Bengal. These projects will significantly enhance cargo movement, strengthen multimodal connectivity and ensure smoother passenger travel through modern, safe and energy-efficient transport systems, while accelerating economic activity and employment generation across the region,” says Union Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal on the occasion.
