The Rajasthan government announced a semiconductor policy, claiming it would enhance investment, create jobs, and foster technological advancement in the state.

An official statement indicates that the policy aims to establish Rajasthan as a central hub for semiconductor production and associated sectors.

It aims to establish a complete semiconductor ecosystem encompassing research, design, production, testing, and packaging, while also seeking to draw investments in fields like Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT); Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP), and sensor fabrication.

Specialized semiconductor zones will be established in Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar and additional industrial clusters, featuring arrangements for land distribution, infrastructure, and streamlined approvals.

To lure investors, the policy presents incentives including a full exemption on electricity duty for seven years, a 75 per cent exemption on stamp duty and land conversion fees, along with capital subsidies through the India Semiconductor Mission.
