Reliance Jio Invests Rs.6,500 Crore to Launch 5G in Andhra Pradesh

With an investment of Rs.6,500 crore, Reliance Jio began offering 5G services in Andhra Pradesh, beginning in Tirumala, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur.

The Jio Welcome Offer will be available to Jio members in these cities starting on December 26, the telco announced this week.

Just a few days ago, Jio announced its most recent 5G debut in the State of Kerala. Jio announced the launch of its 5G and 5G Powered Wi-Fi services in the grounds of Guruvayur Temple and Kochi City. Today, Jio's 5G and 5G Powered Wi-Fi were made available in Andhra Pradesh.

In addition to the Rs 26,000 crore that Jio has already invested, Jio has also spent over Rs 6,500 crore establishing the 5G network in Andhra Pradesh. Jio 5G services would be accessible in every Andhra Pradesh village, town, taluka, and mandalam by December 2023.

The Andhra Pradesh government's chief secretary, K. S. Jawahar Reddy, and IT minister Gudivada Amarnath were present at Jio's 5G launch event in the state, where the telco showcased the advantages of 5G in the healthcare sector using the Jio Community Clinic medical kit and its AR-VR device, Jio Glass.

Jawahar Reddy says, “With the launch of Jio’s True 5G services, Andhra Pradesh is not just getting the best telecommunication network, but will open doors to growth opportunities in the areas of e-governance, education, healthcare, IT and SME business

Selected customers can access the Jio True 5G services at no additional cost. The 4G pricing plan or bundle for the customer gets updated to 5G. All upgraded 5G plans include unlimited data, which is the sole distinction.

With the launch in Andhra Pradesh, Jio 5G services are now accessible in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Varanasi, Nathdwara in Rajasthan, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru in Karnataka, Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Tirumala in Kerala, Visakhapatnam in Haryana, Noida in Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Pune in Maharashtra, Gujarat in all district headquarters, Ujja

In the words of Amarnath, “Apart from their existing investment of Rs.26,000 crores, additionally Jio has invested over ₹6,500 crores for deploying 5G network in Andhra Pradesh and this shows their immense commitment towards our state’s development. By December 2023, Jio True 5G services will be made available in every town, taluka, mandalam and village of Andhra Pradesh.”

Through the groundbreaking AR-VR Jio Glass and the Jio Community Clinic medical kit, Jio exhibited the immersive benefits of 5G in the realm of healthcare.
