Salesforce expects India to enter a phase of broader enterprise AI implementation as businesses move from experimentation to deploying artificial intelligence in real-world operations, Arundhati Bhattacharya, President and CEO, South Asia, said.

Bhattacharya said Indian companies are increasingly progressing toward production-level AI deployments after experimenting with generative AI and AI agents. She added that India continues to offer significant “white space” for digital and agentic AI development.

“Yes, I would say they (Indian companies) are indeed progressing towards implementing things in production,” Bhattacharya said in response to a question on the shift toward large-scale AI deployment. She was speaking on the sidelines of the Dreamforce Conference.

Salesforce also plans to continue investing in India’s physical infrastructure and workforce. Bhattacharya said a new tower in Bengaluru is expected to become operational next calendar year, adding to the company’s existing investments in the country.

“We have previously invested in a tower located in Bangalore, and it is expected to become operational sometime next year,” she said. The company will also continue to focus on employee upskilling and recruitment, she added.

Bhattacharya said Salesforce plans to combine internal innovation with strategic acquisitions to expand its capabilities for customers. She cited the company’s global acquisitions of customer-agent company Fin and data management firm Informatica as examples of its inorganic growth strategy.

IT leaders will increasingly oversee the number, activities, and costs of AI agents, while security teams will be responsible for defining agent identities and monitoring their behavior

Meanwhile, Rohan Kumar, President and Chief Platform and Engineering Officer at Salesforce, outlined the company’s vision of the “agentic enterprise” around four layers: Data 360, Customer 360, Agentforce, and AIforce.

Kumar said the growing use of autonomous AI agents will require companies to strengthen security, governance, cost management, and oversight frameworks. As organizations deploy large numbers of agents, businesses will need mechanisms to monitor their actions and ensure they operate within defined boundaries.
