Telangana Aims to be Global Logistics Hub by 2047: Sridhar Babu

Telangana is following a systematic plan to become one of India's top logistics centers and establish itself as a global logistics destination by 2047, according to IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu.

Addressing the Transport Logistic India 2026 conference hosted by Messe Munchen India at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, the Minister detailed the State government's plan to create a future-ready logistics framework by enhancing infrastructure, integrating digital solutions, providing policy backing, promoting sustainability efforts, and developing skills.

Sridhar Babu mentioned that the logistics industry would be essential for the State's long-term growth strategy within the Telangana Rising 2047 plan, aiming to boost Telangana's share of India's GDP from approximately 5 percent currently to 10 percent by 2047, while also aiding in the development of a USD 3-trillion State economy.

Pointing to worldwide changes in the sector, he emphasized supply-chain restructuring, AI-driven logistics, and sustainability as key trends influencing the industry, noting that Telangana is utilizing its geographical advantages to enhance its logistics competitiveness.

The Minister stated that infrastructure initiatives like the Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail Phase-II, planned airports, dry port development, execution of Telangana Logistics Policy 2.0, and establishment of specialized logistics parks would enhance the logistics ecosystem of the State.

The State government would assist investors by providing quicker approvals, clear policies, and a regulatory framework that favors the industry

He stated that the government is collaborating with Young India Skills University and industry partners to develop a skilled workforce that meets evolving logistics needs, as reported.

Sridhar Babu urged for industry involvement and investment in areas such as multi-modal logistics, rail-connected infrastructure, air cargo, cold chain solutions, Grade-A warehousing, automation, digital logistics platforms, and sustainable mobility.
