Executives from Samsung Electronics and the French AI startup Mistral AI have reportedly discussed potential collaboration in the AI memory field.

Arthur Mensch, the co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI, had a meeting with Jeon Young-hyun, who leads Samsung Electronics' device solutions division, on Thursday at the Hwaseong campus to explore possible collaboration regarding AI chip supply chains and related technologies.

Mensch visited South Korea last week for French President Emmanuel Macron's trip to Seoul to have talks with President Lee Jae Myung, as reported by Yonhap news agency.

Mistral AI, often seen as Europe's answer to OpenAI, seeks to secure a dependable source of semiconductors to strengthen its large language model, Mistral Large, and improve its AI infrastructure. The visit to Samsung's semiconductor facility is seen as part of that effort.
