Through a groundbreaking ceremony, SAP Labs India today started building its second campus in Bengaluru's Devanahalli neighborhood.

The new campus will cover 41.07 acres and have room for 15,000 people, with a focus on inclusivity, wellness, and sustainability.

By 2025, the facility's initial phase is anticipated to be fully operational.

Bengaluru, India, is home to SAP's largest global R&D cluster, which accounts for 40% of SAP's worldwide R&D.

The internet of things (IoT), advanced analytics, and machine learning technologies from SAP enable customers' companies to become intelligent corporations.

“This campus in Devanahalli, North Bangalore will be a reflection of SAP’s vision towards minimizing environmental impact and is designed to be net zero, water positive, and carbon neutral in operations. The first phase of the facility is expected to be operational by 2025," said Sindhu Gangadharan, manging director and senior vice president of SAP Labs speaking at the ceremony.

"The new campus further strengthens SAP's commitment to India and to Karnataka. Much gratitude to our customers, partners and friends in the ecosystem for their continued support to SAP," Gangadharan added.

To assist software-as-a-service (SaaS) entrepreneurs in the early and growing stages of development, SAP Labs India joined with the Indian branch of the IT company Capgemini last year.

The program helps startups advertise their ideas to a wider range of customers and new, diverse markets.

"As SAP Labs India marks its 25th anniversary this year, we are deepening our investments in India with a new 41-acre campus that would create 15,000 new jobs," said Sindhu.

"The new campus further strengthens SAP's commitment to India and to Karnataka. Much gratitude to our customers, partners and friends in the ecosystem for their continued support to SAP," Gangadharan added.
