SBI Chief Highlights Bank's Focus on Emerging Technologies at the WEF
State Bank of India (SBI) Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty emphasized the bank's commitment to new technologies such as AI and cybersecurity at the World Economic Forum 2026 held in Davos, Switzerland.
He highlighted that SBI has consistently engaged in the forum, aligning its goals with the yearly theme, and is currently focused on adopting AI and enhancing cybersecurity resilience.
During the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos-Klosters, Setty remarked, "We have been among the first few banks from India to participate in the World Economic Forum for many years.Each year, naturally, as the theme shifts, we also concentrate on those themes. I've been visiting this place for the past two years. The emphasis is primarily on grasping the developing technologies, especially regarding AI, as well as the overall construction of cybersecurity resilience."

India's expanding economic and technological status has been a significant focus at Davos this year. Union Minister Prahald Joshi presented India as one of the fastest-growing renewable energy markets globally, encouraging international investors to collaborate in the nation's clean energy growth.

Concurrent with this, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that India has finally established a notable presence in the semiconductor industry after many years, with one of four pilot plants expected to start commercial production by the end of February. He also emphasized that India is on course to become the world's third-largest economy in the upcoming years, propelled by continuous growth, structural reforms, and technology-driven implementation.
