Shree Cement Signs MoU with RITES Limited

Shree Cement Limited (SCL), a prominent cement manufacturer in India, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RITES Limited, a Navratna enterprise affiliated with the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, to enhance its rail infrastructure network.

This strategic partnership will promote the development of rail infrastructure and related services at Shree Cement’s production facilities, allowing for a more effective and sustainable transportation of both raw materials and finished products.

The agreement will remain in effect for five years from the signing date and may be extended upon mutual agreement.

Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director, Shree Cement says, “As we expand our manufacturing footprint across India, strengthening our logistics and supply chain infrastructure becomes increasingly critical. Our collaboration with RITES is a strategic step towards creating a more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable transportation system that supports our growth while reducing environmental impact.”

As per the agreement outlined in the MoU, RITES will provide services ranging from initial concept development to final commissioning related to the enhancement, refurbishment, and establishment of new rail infrastructure aimed at facilitating the transport of raw materials, cement, and related goods. In addition, RITES will serve as the Project Management Consultant (PMC), delivering comprehensive consultancy services throughout the entire project lifecycle, from preliminary reconnaissance and feasibility assessments to in-depth project documentation and management of execution.

In its capacity, RITES will also aid in obtaining all essential approvals from the Ministry of Railways and other pertinent authorities for various components, including civil works, signaling and telecom, overhead electrification, and mechanical engineering. Furthermore, RITES will assist Shree Cement in the process of selecting contractors by assessing and certifying the qualifications of potential executing agencies during the tendering phase.
